BCEA Mid-October Updates

BCEA Mid-October Updates

We may be just about halfway through the fall semester, but there is still plenty of time to get involved by attending some of the upcoming BCEA events! Here’s what to look out for in the month of October:

Join us on October 17th at 7 P.M. in Fulton Hall 511 for Careers in Economics. Professor Matt Rutledge and Career Coach Philip Guarino are teaming up to discuss what exactly employers are looking for and effective strategies you should be using when searching for a job. Additionally, three BCEA E-board members will share their varied internship experiences and how a background in economics can apply to a wide range of fields.

Please register for the event on Handshake to let us know you’re attending: https://bc.joinhandshake.com/stu/events/1395150

Join us on October 24th from 2:00–4:00 P.M. in the Economics Department Lobby on the 3rd Floor of Maloney Hall for another Econ Cafe! Desserts and coffee will be provided! We hope to see you there!

Female/Non-Binary Economics Majors Workshops with Professor Regan

Professor Tracy L. Regan is hosting a series of workshops during the Spring 2024 semester to support our female/non-binary undergraduates who are majoring in Economics. The workshops have been generously supported with the financial assistance of a Teaching and Mentoring Grant, offered through the University Council on Teaching. Participation is limited and the classes of 2024, 2025, and 2026 are eligible to apply. More information can be found in the application. The application is due no later than 5 P.M. (EST) on Oct. 18, 2023. Questions can be directed to Prof. Regan: [email protected].

The Investment Banking Association (IBA) will be hosting its third and final information session on Tuesday, October 24th, at 8:00 P.M. in Fulton 511. The session will cover a brief valuation workshop and a deep dive into IBA's interview process. No prior knowledge of finance or investment banking is needed, and it is recommended that all interested applicants attend.

Please join Women in Business and the Investment Banking Association on Wednesday, October 25th from 6:30-8:30 P.M. in 245 Beacon Room 214 to talk to BC juniors and seniors who recruited/interned in investment banking to ask any and all questions about a future career in this male-dominated industry. Exploring career paths can be overwhelming, and we are here to help! This event is a discussion-based open house, so feel free to drop by whenever you can, and for however long you want. Please RSVP here.
