First General Meeting, Econ Cafe, and BC Economics Symposium

Thank you to all of our attendees at Wednesday's consulting event with Cornerstone Research. We want to keep you all updated about some events on the horizon, including our first general meeting of the academic year!

Join us on Monday, September 25th, at 8:00 P.M. in 245 Beacon (Schiller) Room 230 for BCEA's first general meeting of the academic year. We will introduce our executive board, speak about future events and club information, and unveil new opportunities for leadership within the organization. All are welcome!

Stop by the Economics Department Lobby on the 3rd Floor of Maloney on Wednesday, September 27th from 2:00–4:00 P.M. for an Econ Cafe. Chat with professors, faculty, and other economics students over pastries and coffee. All are welcome!

Boston College Economics Symposium: Exploring Insights on Sustainable Growth

On October 6th, the Boston College Economics Department will be hosting a full-day economics symposium. This will feature economists, statisticians, academics, and journalists from around the globe discussing economic and financial growth through lectures, panels, and debates. This event is free for all BC students and BCEA members are especially invited to attend. Additionally, if you want more information about the symposium or are interested in becoming more involved in the event (receptionists, visitor guides, etc.), please contact Professor Brian Bethune at [email protected].

AHANA Management Academy (AMA)has opened up applications for their mentorship program (AHANA Management Development Program—or AMDP). Applications to be a mentee close on September 24th at 11:59 P.M. Link below:

Career Opportunities

  • The Investment Banking Association (IBA) will be hosting its first information session on Tuesday, September 26th, at 7:30 pm in Fulton 511. This session will cover what is investment banking, the landscape of the industry, what an investment banker does, and the 2023-2024 plan for the club. All grade levels are welcome, and no prior knowledge of finance or investment banking is needed. All questions can be directed to [email protected].

  • Province, a leading restructuring and financial advisory firm, will be visiting Boston College this year to recruit for their internship program. They are a firm specializing in financial restructuring, and would like to extend an invitation to explore internship opportunities with them and join them for on-campus coffee chats on October 2nd between 10:00 am – 12:30 pm. Both the internship listing and sign-ups for on-campus coffee chats can be found on Handshake.

  • McKinsey & Company’s deadline for their Sophomore Summer Business Analyst (SSBA) application deadline is September 29th. This program for second year undergraduate students is an integral part of our diversity recruiting efforts and is designed to expose members of historically underrepresented groups in this field to the management consulting profession.   • The Office of Global Education is accepting a small number of students to participate in McGillycuddy-Logue Fellows Program. This program application is open to current, full-time sophomores, and is a five-semester commitment. McGillycuddy-Logue Fellows Program website.
